Wildlife Conservation

Baobab Trust's approach to wildlife conservation has been to demonstrate its value as a sustainable resource.  The introduction of a variety of animals into the rehabilitated land has been a vital part of building a self-sustaining eco-system.

The Trust has established a small nature sanctuary at Nguu Tatu (Three Hills) an area adjoining a shanty town development, close to Mombasa.  The Sanctuary is now a home to a big number of ostriches, elands, oryx, water bucks, giraffes and camels

The geological formation dates back to the ancient Gondwana land when Madagascar was still part of the mega continent 150 million years ago during the time of dinosaurs.  When many ammonites and other fossil species from microscopic to over 1m were living in the seas.
