The Haller Foundation’s primary objective is to raise money to support and promote the pioneering work and principles of Dr Rene Haller. The Foundation has assisted with the Baobab Trust’s projects as well as set up a library and health clinic for local communities. |

Under the management of pioneering industrialist, Dr. Felix Mandel, the Bamburi Cement Factory started production in 1954 and has since become the largest manufacturing exporter in Kenya. It was for Bamburi Cement that Dr. Haller beginning work on the quarry rehabilitation project. |

In his capacity of 'Head of the Garden Department' at Bamburi, Dr. Haller started producing vegetables, then ventured into poultry, sheep, goats and dairy. By 1977 the 'Garden Department' had become an economically viable and self-sustaining and so was spun off as a separate enterprise - Baobab Farm, now Lafarge Ecosystems. |
